12th Annual Race Unity Awards scheduled

Once again, the Race Unity Awards will be presented to those who have made strides in our community toward bringing diverse peoples together in harmony. The award ceremony and potluck picnic will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, at Klehm Arboretum Gallery, inside the Main Building, 2701 Clifton Ave. It will be a potluck with beverage and place setting provided.

The 12th Annual Race Unity Awards recognize individual, group and organizational efforts that demonstrate and give practical “life” to many important principles of the Baha’i Faith. This year’s recipients include the following: Crossing Bridges by local playwright Charlyne Blatcher Martin and produced by Rock Valley College Original Works Program, Katherine Golden, Let’s Talk It Out, Phi Theta Kappa and Charles and Sheila Sensal.

Plan to bring your family and friends to this wonderful community celebration. Come together as we recognize the worthy recipients of this award and affirm our commitment to race unity. The event is sponsored by the Institute of Oneness of Humanity and the Baha’i Community of the Rockford. For more information, call 963-3100.
