The 15th annual Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) Awards ceremony will be Thursday, April 20, at the Tebala Shrine Temple, 7910 Newburg Rd. Doors open at 6 p.m., with ceremony starting at 6:50 p.m. with Joe House and Harry Van Der Berg from the Phantom Regiment.
Other performances during the evening will be the Youth Charity Jam, the Matt Ulery Quintet, the Boone Boys, Steve Stapler, the New Royal Travelers, Clutch Cargo, the Felix Culpa and Big Daddy Woo Woos Funk Revival w/WAR Productions, DJ Jes One and the New 2nd Baptist Choir.
The RAMI Committee hosts the awards show and several benefits throughout the year to help fund the Gary S. Wilmer Memorial Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Boone and Winnebago County who have attained a GPA of at least 2.5, plan to pursue a degree in music performance, education or composition and are actively involved in school or community musical groups. Students must be nominated by a music teacher. This years recipients will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. For more information and online application forms, visit www.cfnil.org.
More than 170 area musicians, bands, musical groups, music organizations and technicians were nominated in more than 30 categories for this years awards. Voting was open to the public from the first week of January until March 8. More than 4,000 people voted for their favorite artists through online voting and paper ballots.
Each year, the RAMIs induct groups or individuals that have won five awards into the RAMI Hall of Fame. The years inductees are Agent Zero, Michael Beert and Robin Banks.
