'Born with a Broken Heart' author at Festival of Words Sept. 17

If you have yet to purchase a copy of local author Creola A. Colón’s inspirational and informative book, Born with a Broken Heart, this Saturday, Sept. 17, is your chance to not only purchase a copy of the book, but to also meet and chat with the author.

Colón will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at Rockford Public Library’s Festival of Words. Her booth will be in the river walk esplanade between the Main Library (215 N. Wyman St.) and the river.

Colón’s book, her first, was released in September 2003. The 591-page tour de force details her family’s decades of struggle with the genealogical disease heterotaxy. The book was recently nominated for the National Afro-American Genealogical Society Award.
