'Get Your Hands on History' at Tinker Swiss Cottage

Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum invites families and visitors of all ages to “Please touch” from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, at “Get Your Hands on History,” a Family Day event.

During the event, visitors can explore the Museum’s extensive hands-on collection of items from the Victorian era before or after their tour of the historic Cottage.

Children and adults can peer through a stereoscope (yesterday’s View Master), pulverize some coffee beans in the coffee grinder, chuckle at the swim suits of yesteryear and more.

Exploring everyday items from the past helps us to better understand what daily life was like before the modern era.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children. All activities are included with admission.

For more information, call Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum at (815) 964-2424 or visit their Web site, www.tinkercottage.com.
