58th annual ‘Messiah’ presentation

Rockford Lutheran Choral Union announces its 58th annual presentation of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ in two performances this Saturday and Sunday. The performances will be Sat Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and Sun at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St. in Rockford.

Tickets for admission are free but must be requested by phone at 654-2748. Organizers invite your contribution at the performance to support future presentations of this holiday tradition.

Saturday and Sunday’s presentations are the 162nd and 163rd performances since the first in 1945. According to organizers “It is the prayer of the Choral Union and its governing board that your life will be enriched by ‘Messiah,’ not only by the wonderful music, but by His abiding presence in your life and this Advent season.”

Nat Bauer will conduct the presentations. Performers include Soprano Beth Fredickson, Mezzo-soprano Lisa Nemeth, Tenor William Watson, Bass Timothy Quistorff. A chamber orchestra will also perform.
