5th Annual RAMI Awards benefit

5th Annual RAMI Awards benefit

The Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) Awards is a proud tradition in the Rockford community. Now in its 12th year, the awards ceremony is held in April and features celebrity presenters and great live music. It is an evening filled with excitement, suspense and glamour.

The RAMIs is the Rock River Valley’s premier event to celebrate, promote and support the local music community and award substantial scholarships (more than $15,000 since its inception in 1997) to deserving local high school seniors who plan to further their studies in the musical arts.

The 5th Annual RAMI benefit is set for March 8 at the Verdi Club, 782 N. Madison St. featuring live music and dancing. A 50/50 raffle, attendance prizes and drawings for goods donated by local merchants will help raise funds. Proceeds will be applied to the Gary Wilmer/RAMI Scholarship Fund.

Started in 1999 by The Missing Links (Dick Campbell and Dan Eisman), the event has grown from two bands with 200 people in attendance to four bands with 400 people in attendance in 2002. Marty Campbell (2003 committee member) guarantees 2003’s event will be even more successful.

The Hooters Girls and the Hard Hat Girls will be selling raffle tickets.

Budweiser/LaMonica Beverages has been a tremendous asset to the RAMIs/RAMI Benefit for the past two years. Bands performing at this year’s benefit are: Prime Time Live, The Missing Links, The Moondogs and Toad Soup.

Party time is 6 p.m. until midnight. Tickets are $10 at the door.
