95.3 BOB FM signs on, ‘plays everything’

With no hype—just delivering on the promise of “BOB plays everything,” 95.3 BOB FM signed on the morning of Aug. 1 at 9 a.m.

As of Wednesday, Aug. 2, Bob and Tom moved to WXRX and do mornings. According to Market Manager J. Chapman: “The Stone and Double T show has become legendary in Rockford. Having Bob and Tom, along with Stone and Double T, on the same radio station creates a monster. We are currently finalizing details with Jim Stone and Terry Turen about a new place on the X for their show and their ‘unique’ brand of humor. Whether it’s Arbitron or any study we’ve seen…we now have the strongest personalities in Rockford, all on the same station.”

It’s all about giving listeners what they want. 95.3 BOB FM plays adult hits from the ’70s and ’80s with even some music from the ’90s. CEO of Maverick Media, Gary Rozynek, said: “Maverick Media has done extensive research in Rockford, and the conclusions are clear—listeners want radio to be fun, and 95.3 BOB FM is all about having fun… While most radio stations have restrictive play lists that limit the number of songs the program director can actually play, 95-3 BOB FM is all about playing the songs that adults love.”

Over the last two years, the Adult Hits format has exploded across the country, and the stations that have adopted it typically are the most listened-to stations in their respective cities.
