A Christmas Carol returns to NAT

Back by popular demand, New American Theater continues its 32nd season with the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. This timeless tale reminds us of the true meaning of the Christmas spirit.

A Christmas Carol, originally written by Charles Dickens in 1843, was published one week before Christmas. This novel has inspired countless adaptations for film and stage throughout the years. In this adaptation, by NAT’s own Interim Artistic Director Steven Young, the life of Charles Dickens is mirrored through Ebeneezer Scrooge as Dickens, himself, guides the audience through the tale.

Being pressured by a looming deadline and financial hardship, Dickens is forced to see his own life’s story unveil through his writing. A hardened man, focused on material wants and needs, is quickly enlightened by a series of events, all occurring on Christmas Eve. By reminiscing about the past, seeing the present for what it really is, and getting a glimpse of the future, the human spirit is reawakened in both Scrooge and Dickens. Come see the biggest Scrooge of them all, Ebeneezer himself, discover the Christmas Spirit in this amazing adaptation of a timeless classic.

Audiences of all ages are sure to enjoy themselves with this dazzling production filled with ominous ghosts, brotherly love, innocent children, and holiday cheer.
