ABATE Thunder Rock to hold benefit

ABATE of Illinois, Inc. Thunder Rock Chapter, along with Freeport, Kishwaukee Valley and Starved Rock chapters, is hosting a benefit Summer Block Party for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1 p.m. until folks decide to go home, at Bert’s Place, 4412 Manchester Dr., Rockford, at Alpine and Harrison. Q98.5 radio station will be a co-sponsor.

Donation is $15 per person, or free with $25 in pledges (cash is best). The price includes a sandwich and two drinks. All proceeds of this benefit will go directly to St. Jude’s for research and family assistance. Sponsors are requested to help pay for the bands scheduled that day and other expenses. Any sponsor of $250 or more will be acknowledged on all radio and television announcements and banners on site the day of the event.

ABATE is a non-profit, worldwide organization of motorcycle enthusiasts who aim to educate about motorcycle safety and assist the community in public service. They help entertain children in local hospitals at holidays with toys and activities. All fundraisers are aimed at assisting local communities, such as MDA and Breast Cancer Awareness.
