This weekend, the Rockford Speedway will host the 2006 Spring Classic presented by Chicago International Trucks and Yellow Book. The action begins at 5 p.m., Friday, March 31, with a practice session for the Spring Classic Divisions only. Practice will run until 9 p.m.
Practice resumes Saturday, April 1 at 11 a.m. Front gates will open to fans at 4 p.m. for qualifying. The Big 8 Series, The Wisconsin Challenge Series and the Mid-American Stock Car Series, will be on the track for pre-race qualifying.
Opening ceremonies are slated for 5:55 p.m., and the first race of the 2006 season gets the green flag at 6:06 p.m., Saturday, April 1. The Saturday night schedule includes heat races in all divisions, as well as a 58-lap feature for the Big 8 late models. In addition to the evenings competitive action, there will also be a 10-lap exhibition race by the Midwest Classics.
The program continues Sunday, April 2 with a racing collectibles show beginning at 9:30 a.m. Fans will be allowed on track for a photo session at 11:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 12:30 p.m., and racing starts at 1 p.m. Highlights of the Sunday program include The Mid-American Series 50-lap feature and the Wisconsin Challenge Series 150-lap feature.
General admission and reserved tickets remain for both days, and may be purchased in advance by calling the Rockford Speedway at 633-1500. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the show at the Speedway box office.
