All three candidates set for March 22 mayoral debate

All three Rockford mayoral candidates will square off in a live debate at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 22 on WREX-TV 13.

Independent candidate Larry Morrissey announced he would join Republican candidate Gloria Cardenas Cudia and Democratic Mayor Doug Scott in the debate, despite contributions made by WREX-TV 13 to Scott’s re-election campaign.

“I feel it’s more important to the community and the residents of our great city to hear firsthand from me, and my vision of Rockford,” Morrissey said in a statement. “I very much look forward to the debate to underscore the differences between the current administration and a Morrissey administration.”

The debate is sponsored by the League of Women Voters and will be held at the Rockford Art Museum.
