Alley Walk 2002 set for Sept. 21

The 20th Annual Bethesda Alley Walk will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 on the grounds adjacent to Bethesda Covenant Church, 2101 East State St., Rockford.

Designed as a day of fun for the entire family, this year’s Alley Walk will feature 100 craft vendors, including many from the local area as well as the Chicagoland area and Iowa.

Excellent food will be available at outdoor booths all day such as hot dogs, pork chop sandwiches, hot seasoned nuts, walking tacos, caramel apples, egg rolls, coffee and donuts, pop, popcorn, fresh bakery goods and candy. A barbecue luncheon plate (barbecue sandwich, chips, pickle, lemonade and an ice cream bar) will be served inside the church with comfortable seating and tables—no reservations necessary.

Bethesda members and various local talented groups will feature live musical entertainment throughout the day at the entertainment tent. For the children, there is a game area, and special events such as the entertaining Aunt Tillie the Clown, face painting and golf challenge.

Admission for the day is free. The grounds include two information booths, picnic tables, children’s playground and handicapped parking.

Through the cooperation of the church’s neighbors, the 10 Alley garages will again become “shops” with good used merchandise including: furniture, books, linens, Christmas items, children’s toys and furniture, vintage & collectibles, household items and clothing for the entire family.

Proceeds from the Alley Walk benefit the church’s ministries. Additional parking is available at the Rockford Plaza back lot at Hunter and Charles. Shuttle service will be provided throughout the day to the Alley Walk.
