Beloit, Wis.Beloit College music faculty members Allyson Fleck and Ian Nie will join students and special guests in a concert of chamber works Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m., in Eaton Chapel on the Beloit College campus.
Allyson Fleck, violinist and assistant professor of music, opens the evening as soloist in G.P. Telemanns Concerto in G Major for Viola and String Orchestra. She will be joined by Beloit College string students. She will also perform the Sonata for Solo Viola by Madison violist Nils Bultman.
Fleck received her doctorate in viola performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a minor in instrumental conducting. She has received numerous awards and performed with orchestras and ensembles in Russia, Spain and Wisconsin.
Benjamin Whitcomb, assistant professor of cello and music theory at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, will join Fleck in a performance of Beethoven and Paul Hindemith.
The concert will close with Mozarts Trio in E-flat Major Kegelstatt performed by Fleck, with Dan Roberdeau, clarinet, and Ian Nie, piano. Roberdeau and Nie are both adjunct assistant professors at Beloit College. Nie is an accomplished and frequent piano accompanist.
The concert is free and open to the public.
