Alpine Kiwanis plans Brat Days kickoff

The Alpine Kiwanis Club of Rockford will host its 35th annual fund-raiser, “Thanks a Million” Brat Days 2006, with a kickoff meeting at 7 a.m., Thursday, May 18, at the Hoffman House, 7550 E. State St. (inside the Holiday Inn) in Rockford.

To commemorate this event, Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey will be presented with a facsimile check for $1 million, representing the amount of money Alpine Kiwanis Charities, Inc., has donated to local nonprofits and for scholarships during the past 34 years.

This year’s theme, “Thanks a Million,” is the club’s way of saying “thank you” to all volunteers, sponsors, media and community members for the support given in past years, allowing Alpine Kiwanis to reach this milestone.

In celebration, club members will be grilling the famous Johnsonville Brats for breakfast at the kickoff. Stop by the kickoff and enjoy a free brat and buy your tickets for this year’s “Thanks a Million” Brat Days to be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, July 21, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 22. Locations for this two-day event are: Colonial Village, Edgebrook Center and Logli’s Supermarket on East State Street.
