Alzheimer’s Assoc. presents driving course

The Alzheimer’s Association is presenting “Driving, Dementia & Safety” at 6:30 p.m., April 15, at the Boone County Council on Aging (2141 Henry Luckow Lane, Belvidere).

Driving is a complex activity that demands quick reactions, alert senses and split-second decisions. For a person with Alzheimer’s, driving inevitably becomes difficult. The program will describe the relationship between Alzheimer’s and the ability to drive, list warning signs for drivers with dementia, describe strategies for transitioning from driver to passenger, identify the role of the DMV and physician, and identify additional resources.

The program is free and open to the public. “Driving, Dementia & Safety” is part of the family focus series sponsored by SupplyCore, Inc. To register, contact Bonnie Beam at 815-484-1300.
