Crystal Ball scheduled for April 27 to raise funds for local cancer efforts
The American Cancer Societys Sixth Annual Crystal Ball will be April 27 in Giovannis Grand Ballroom in Rockford. The 2007 Crystal Ball hopes to raise more than $70,000 to help fight the war against cancer. Proceeds from the Crystal Ball will directly impact research, education, advocacy, and patient services in the Rockford area.
The American Cancer Societys Crystal Ball always brings unique entertainment to Rockford, and this year will be no exception. This year, the event is particularly exciting because the organization is bringing Second City to Rockford! Second City is the award-winning comedy act where comedians such as John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Chris Farley, Bonnie Hunt and many more began their acting career.
In addition to stellar talent, Second Citys other chief export is comedy that is hilarious and thought-provoking; smart and silly; sophisticated and wild. The concept is simple: six actors augmented by a musical accompanist and a sound and lighting director, perform a two-act revue featuring sketch comedy, songs and improvisation.
After their act, there will be dancing to the Bluz Brothers, an eight-piece band dedicated to the great R&B sounds made popular by Jake and Elwood Blues of Calumet City, Ill.
The black-tie optional evening will also include a raffle for:
First prize: Beautiful ladys fade sapphire ring in 18k white gold, valued at $2,600, Donated by Clodius & Co;
Second Prize: Trip for two to Napa Valley (This prize includes airfare, six winery tours, and $1,000 cash. Portion of this prize donated by Dianne Parvin, Realtor and Roger Hulsebus, DC)
Raffle ticket price is one for $20, three for $50 or 10 for $100. (Winner need not be present.) Tickets can be purchased at the local American Cancer Society office, 4312 E. State St., Rockford; phone number is (815) 229-1287.
In addition to dinner, entertainment, music and raffle, there also will be a silent auction and wine pull.
The American Cancer Societys 2006 Crystal Ball will begin at 6 p.m. April 27 at Giovannis restaurant. Tickets are $125 per person, and full tables of 10 are available for $1,250.
The RSVP deadline is April 20. Contact Megan Selck at the American Cancer Society at (815) 229-1287 for more information and to purchase tickets. Join more than 500 community members in the fight against cancer at the American Cancer Societys Crystal Ball.
