The American Cancer Societys 4th Annual Crystal Ball will be April 22 in Giovannis Grand Ballroom in Rockford. One in three individuals will be diagnosed with cancer during his or her lifetime. Each hour in Illinois, seven people are diagnosed with cancer, and three die from it. The 2005 Crystal Ball hopes to raise more than $35,000 to help fight the war against cancer. Proceeds from the Crystal Ball will directly impact research, education, advocacy, and patient services in the Rockford area community.
The black-tie optional evening will include a gourmet dinner, both a live and a silent auction, and a raffle with a chance to win an eight day trip to England or an 18-carat three-heart drop pendant donated by Clodius and Co. The evening will also feature Van and Christinas Live Dueling Piano Show direct from Las Vegas.
The Crystal Balls unique silent auction will feature, among other items, beautiful mirrors designed and decorated by local artists. The mirrors symbolize the Crystal Balls 2005 theme, Reflections: Looking Toward the Future with Hope. In years past, the Crystal Ball was referred to simply as the American Cancer Societys Annual Gala event. Each new day brings with it renewed hope in the fight against cancer, and for that reason the American Cancer Society has changed the name of the annual gala to the Crystal Ball. The name represents the image of looking into a crystal ball to the future with hope for a cure.
The American Cancer Societys 2005 Crystal Ball will be held from 6 p.m.-midnight April 22 at Giovannis restaurant. Tickets are $75 per person, and full tables are available for $750. The RSVP deadline is April 11. Please contact Karli Behmer at your American Cancer Society at 229-1287 for more information and to purchase tickets. Please join more than 300 community members in the fight against cancer at the American Cancer Societys Crystal Ball.
