American Red Cross asks for money and volunteers
The American Red Cross has activated its Aviation Response (AIR) Team to respond in New York City, and trained disaster workers from the American Red Cross of Greater New York and the National Capitol Chapter in Washington, D.C. are already providing relief in the affected areas to victims, family members and emergency services personnel. The relief work will continue for months and months to come.
The Rock River Chapter of the American Red Cross expects to deploy volunteer mental health workers and others trained in disaster services to assist in providing the relief. Jackie Schaefer-Wurst of Rockford is a member of the American Red Cross Aviation Incident Response Team.
All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
