Animal Services celebrates this June as Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month

When the stresses of everyday life or merely a bad day at work threatens to overwhelm you, help is just a cat-in-the-lap away. Petting a cat is known to help lower blood pressure and release “feel good” endorphins. At this time of year when shelters across the county are overflowing with cats of all ages, there has never been a better time to adopt a furry feline and let a cat help you feel better.

Winnebago County Animal Services wants you to help celebrate June as “Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat” Month by adopting a cat. Cats are available at the facility at 4517 N. Main St. and at Petsmart locations in Rockford and Machesney Park.

Also, if anyone is interested in helping with cat adoptions or fostering, visit for more information or to download a volunteer application.
