Annual Christmas program at Lockwood Park

Annual Christmas program at Lockwood Park

Several local groups will combine forces in the annual Christmas program on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Lockwood Park on Safford Road. The benefit is being held for single parents who need help.

Sponsoring groups are West Side Business Men & Women, the Jaycees, The Undertaker & special helper, Jaima. The man known as “The Undertaker,” who remains nameless, explained how single parents qualify to be helped. “They are trying to work or have been laid off. We get the names of the parents and the kids from parents who submit them.”

Events planned include a dog sled race, Santa vs. the Grinch, Christmas music with O.J. Grinch, and special guest star Scooby Doo. The dogs for the race are provided by a local woman who provides the dogs and the sleds. She remains anonymous, taking no credit for her help.

The Christmas program will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registration should be made by 9 a.m. at the main office at Lockwood Park. There is no entry fee.
