April 20 deadline for ArtsPlace applications for ages 14-19

Applications for ArtsPlace, an arts apprenticeship program for youth ages 14-19, are available at the Rockford Area Arts Council, 713 E. State St., or through the Arts Council Web site: www.artsforeveryone.com.

Youth from Winnebago and Boone counties are eligible to apply. This is the first year ArtsPlace has accepted applicants from Boone County. Deadline to return applications is Friday, April 20.

ArtsPlace, in its 13th year, is an arts apprenticeship program in which youth work in teams instructed by professional artists to create art that is sold or performed for the public. The youth share in the proceeds, made through ticket sales and purchase of the art work; earn rewards for achieving work goals; and have the opportunity to earn college scholarships.

The ArtsPlace program runs from June 11 to Aug. 2 at Rockford College’s Clark Arts Center.

The ArtsPlace program receives funding from many sources, including the Illinois Arts Council, the Department of Human Services, the Gannett Foundation and the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. Additional sponsorships and funding for the program is needed. For more information, call the Rockford Area Arts Council at 815-963-6765.
