April cribbage course at Byron Public Library

Rock Valley College (RVC) Center for Learning in Retirement is offering a three-session class about learning to play cribbage.

Sessions will be at the Byron Public Library Tuesdays, April 4, 11, and 18, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The class is open to anyone, and no minimum age or partner required. Cost is $13.

Cribbage is a very old, unique game of challenge and fun played with a 52-card deck and a cribbage board for scoring. This introductory course provides adults in the area an opportunity to learn a new and stimulating pastime. The game can be played with 2, 3 or 4 people.

Instructor for the course will be Bud Wiener of Oregon, who has taught beginners for several years. Rules, the deal, the play, scoring and simple strategies will be presented in easy progressions with individual assistance and practice times. Each person brings a deck of cards, and you (or you and a partner) bring a cribbage board to the second session.
