Many area Chicago Bears fans are about to have their dreams come true. Their team is in Super Bowl XLI in Miami this weekend.
The road to Miami wasnt always a smooth one. Remember the miracle comeback on Monday night in Arizona, or the overtime field goal against Seattle in the playoffs?
One local fan even believes angels may have played a part in the teams success. Last week, I received a touching e-mail from Jaime Hollenberger. She told me how her 31-year-old husband Brent was a life-long faithful Bears fan. He died in a car accident last September.
Brent knew that they would make it to the Super Bowl again, and this season he was finally right! Jaime said. She went on to add: Why? Why are the Bears going to the Super Bowl this season? Why now when Brent cant be here to celebrate in this amazing event that all of us Chicago Bear fans have been waiting so patiently for?
It has been a tearful journey for me through this successful season, knowing how badly Brent would have wanted to see this moment in football history, she continued. However, then I think that there must be a reason they have come this far. I truly believe that Brent is the angel that has guided the Chicago Bears to victory!
I, too, believe the Bears may be the recipients of some heavenly intervention. During the final days of my wifes illness, I jokingly told her that if there were anything she could do from above to help the Bears, I would greatly appreciate it. She must have taken it more seriously than I. A big thank you to Brent and Amy.
