More than 32 from J and J Trampoline and Tumbling compete in championships
J and J brings home 11 medals and three national titles
Earlier this month, the 2007 USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling National Championships were held in Memphis, Tenn. More than 1,800 athletes from 36 states gathered to compete in trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline in levels 5 through senior elite.
Thirty-two athletes represented our area from J and J Trampoline and Tumbling in Pecatonica. The team brought 11 medals and three national titles back to northern Illinois.
Freeports Amanda Bessert won the gold medal and national champion title in the level 9 trampoline event. Winnebagos Kristen Edwards and Ian Klindera were also crowned national champions. Edwards won the gold in the level 6 double mini-trampoline, and Klindera brought home the gold in the level 6 tumbling.
Michael Devine of Winnebago, Allison Klosinski of Winnebago, Delaney Egan of Byron, Kaylee Carlson of Rockford, Lindsey Thoren of Pecatonica, Shelby Hitchcock of Ridott Daniel Arana of Freeport and Kali Janicke of Forreston collected honorable mention awards at the event.
Devine also brought home a $5,000 academic scholarship awarded by USA Gymnastics.
