Arlene Masters & Blues Transit to host benefit
Ms. Arlene Masters and a couple of the Blues Transit band members in conjunction with the owners of Cheers, will host a benefit called Jam For Food at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29 at Cheers, 3207 N. Main St., Rockford. The purpose of the benefit is to help the Rock River Valley Pantry.
Organizers hope to pack the Blues Transit bus full of non-perishable food items, canned goods, and donations to help the pantry in their time of need. They are also looking for someone to lend them a drum set to host an open jam so that fellow musicians can come down and jam for the cause. Other bands planning to participate include Too Deep, and possibly a few others. All musicians are welcome to come and jam, providing they bring their own cords and instruments.
The event ends when all musicians are finished playing or midnight, which ever comes first.
Part of Masters CD sales will go toward the pantry benefit.
Sponsoring radio and TV stations are WKMQ 96.7, WNIJ 89.5 and WIFR-23.
