If you are interested in beautiful flowers or lovely art, the northwest part of Rockford is the place to be on Sunday, June 27. The North End Business Association will be sponsoring an art fair on the plaza behind the businesses in the 1400 block of North Main St. (the block South of Auburn Street), and two adjoining neighborhood associations will be holding their free Neighborhood Garden Walks that afternoon.
Start your day browsing the Art Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lots of artists exhibiting in many different media. There will also be a booth there selling plants, and you will want to stop there to pick up maps to the many lovely gardens on the Signal Hill and North End Square Garden Walks. Both Garden Walks will run from 1 to 5 p.m. We recommend that you get to the art fair early to get the best selection, and then have lunch in one of the great eateries right there in that block. After lunch, start enjoying the Garden Walks
Signal Hill has 10 gardens on display this year, including one former Garden Glory Tour garden that will have the theme of Quilts in the Garden. One avid gardner will be offering demonstrations of pruning (at 2 p.m.), plant selection (at 3 p.m.) and trough building (at 4 p.m.).
North End Square Neighborhood has seven gardens this year, including one featuring rose bushes from the 1800s.
Youll have a day to remember on Rockfords northwest side on June 27th, so be sure to join us there.
