The Arthritis Foundation will hold a seminar, Solving the Arthritis Puzzle, on Saturday, Oct. 23, at The Learning Center, 207 N. First St., Rockford.
Keynote speaker JoAnne Berg will share how she manages the daily challenges imposed by rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. She is married and has two small children. Berg is a mentor for the Arthritis Foundations Joint in Motion Marathon Training Team. She has run in two marathons in Honolulu, and plans to run in the Chicago Marathon. She volunteers for the Arthritis Foundation by telling her experiences in hope of helping others.
In addition, area rheumatologists will present basic facts, treatment options, preventions and medication management for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis. Other health care professionals will discuss treatment approaches including water therapy, acupuncture, massage and Tai Chi. Information will be provided on over the counter medications available for treatment of arthritis.
This educational program is intended for people with arthritis and their families. View the exhibitsmedical equipment/supplies, medication information, home care, hospital services and more.
