It didnt start out to be a book. Mitch Albom just taped his Tuesday visits with his favorite teacher, Morrie, who was terminally ill. But Morrie was worried about his family and the high costs of his health care. So Mitch wrote a small book that would, everyone hoped, pay a few medical bills.
Tuesdays with Morrie became a phenomenonwith nearly four years atop The New York Times best-seller list. An Emmy-winning television film followed, and, most recently, a stage adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom.
Artists Ensemble (AE) opens its own production of Tuesdays with Morrie March 16 at Rockford Colleges Cheek Theatre. A special March 14 performance will be staged at 7:30 p.m. for New American Theater ticket-holders only.
