Arts for Life benefit set for Oct. 16

On Sunday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., 14 area dance companies and individual artists will volunteer their talents to present a dance performance benefiting several nonprofit groups.

The sixth annual “Arts for Life” is a concert benefiting ACN-AIDS Care Network, Crusader Clinic, Diversity and THAT—Total Health Awareness Team. The concert will be held at Clark Arts Center, Maddox Theater, Rockford College.

The performance will feature many dance styles including ballet, modern dance, jazz, Argentine tango and also live music. A reception will follow the performance. Participants are: DanceLoop Chicago, DanceReach, Arturo De La Mesa, Beth Fowler Dance Company, GAR’s Dance Source Unlimited, Marie E. Castello and Jacques Saint-Cyr, Paula Frasz, Pastiche Dance, Rockford Dance Company, EdgarStiltner, David Stocker, Underground Arts Connection, Without Shoes Modern Dance Company, and Doug Woods.

There will be a raffle of items donated by local artists and businesses.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets are available at J.R. Kortman’s Center for Design, Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, Rockford Area Arts Council and Rockford Dance Company.

The “Arts for Life” event is sponsored by Rockford College.
