‘Ask the Superintendent’ July 27 on 23 News

Rockford Public School District 205 Superintendent Dr. Dennis Thompson will answer questions on all topics about the school system live on-air from the 23 News studio.

What progress has been made during his tenure? What is being done right now on addressing problems? And, where does he see the state’s third-largest public school system going in the future?

Viewers can submit questions via the Internet at www.wifr.com beginning Sunday, July 23 . Questions will be compiled for inclusion in the discussion with Dr. Thompson by 23 News anchors Nichole Vrsansky and Bryan Henry.

During the days prior to the special “Ask the Superintendent” program, promotion within newscasts and during regular programming will be used to spur viewer involvement and participation.

Among topics expected to be addressed will be the limiting of student busing, student discipline, tax rate issues, and the role of parents in the formal education of Rockford’s young people.

This program will also be the kickoff of a unique months-long series of reports on 23 News called, “Rockford Schools—Fact or Fiction?” These stories will address specific perceptions about the Rockford Public School system and whether these views are factual or false…or a mixture of what is true and what is not.
