Atwood Center celebrates autumn

Celebrate fall at a free family event at the Atwood Outdoor Education Center Saturday, Sept. 10. The Center, a facility of the Rockford Park District, is at 2685 New Milford School Rd.. Event hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Fabulous Fall Fun Day” will feature demonstrations of the Center’s Birds of Prey, in a program that has a powerful educational and environmental message for people of all ages. Other activities include Camp Grant history tours, live reptile presentations, guided nature hikes, cemetery walks, and storytelling.

Camp Grant-style food will be available for purchase at “Fabulous Fun Day.” Atwood Park is the site of the U.S. Army’s former Camp Grant, which operated during both world wars. Many Army structures are still visible within the 334-acre park.
