Auburn Theatre performs prize-winning play Dec. 1

School’s Theatre Showcase presents one-act play Freudian Slip, written by CAPA student

Auburn High School’s Theatre Showcase will present the one-act play, Freudian Slip, written by Auburn High School CAPA student Cassandra Rose, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1 at the school, 5110 Auburn St.

This play was chosen by the Illinois High School Theatre Festival to be one of four in the state to be performed in early January for their opening ceremonies in Springfield by the Chicago-based professional theater troupe, Eclipse Theatre Company. Freudian Slip will be reprised as part of the Showcase by the original student cast who performed it at its debut at last spring’s Auburn Playwright Festival. As the IHSTF is only open to high school students, the Auburn performance will be the only one available to the public. Tickets are a suggested $2 donation at the door.

Auburn High School’s Theatre club students show off their talent with drama, comedy and dance. The proceeds go toward a scholarship fund for two graduating seniors who will major in performance or technical theater in post-secondary education.
