Aug. 27 movie tailgate benefits Lung Association

With football season just around the corner, it’s time to start tailgating. The public is invited to attend the first tailgate party of the new season Sunday, Aug. 27, from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the Forest Hills Lodge.

While it’s true there won’t be a game following this party, there will be plenty of football action to watch, albeit on the big screen.

The American Lung Association is having the party in conjunction with the release of the movie Invincible, starring Mark Wahlberg. The film is about the life story of Vince Papale, the former Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder who went on to become a member of the Eagles and, eventually, became team captain. After the tailgate party at the lodge, attendees are invited to make their way to Showplace 16 for the movie. Showtime is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The American Lung Association is excited to have Papale as this year’s featured speaker for their 18th annual Critics’ Choice Dinner. The dinner and a silent auction will be at Cliffbreakers Friday, Oct. 27.

Like any good tailgate party, there will be plenty of food and fun. The lodge is next to the Rockford Speedway on the corner of Forest Hills Road and Route 173. Tickets for the tailgate party are $10 and include the movie. Tickets for the Critic’s Choice Dinner are $75. For more about either event, call 962-6412.
