This weekend, get ready to swing with the Chicago-based group Baaro. They’ll be performing at 8:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, at Octane Interlounge, 124 N. Main St.

Charlotte’s Web welcomes back this lively group who will rock your socks off with their irresistible mix of reggae, African, and funk. Their history includes two platinum and gold albums as Ziggy Marley’s Melody makers, as well as appearances on David Letterman, Soul Train, Arsenio Hall, and British and Italian TV.

The Chicago Tribune described them as “a cool breeze of rhythms from Jamaica, Chicago and Ethiopia.” Keyboardist Mulugetta sometimes sings in Amharic, a Semitic language spoken in Ethiopia. The performance is a bit of Africa, a bit of reggae, a bit of Chicago funk, and entirely enjoyable with its world beat.

Baaro is always a huge hit with Charlotte’s Web audiences every time we bring them back to town. With their mesmerizing rhythms and fabulous vocalists, this six-piece band will get you dancing to their beat.
