In honor of his wedding to Constanze Weber in 1782, Mozart applied mature skills to his final setting of the text of the Ordinary Mass, the C Minor Mass. His setting for double choir, orchestra and soloists alternates riveting choruses of praise with virtuosic solos. His bride is reported to have sung soaring soprano solos in early performances.
Bachs Jesu Meine Freude is considered the crown jewel of the German motet tradition.
