Bach Chamber Choir Concert on May 11


Join Rockford’s Bach Chamber Choir for an enjoyable evening of music for festive occasions with many trumpet fanfares and joyous choruses in a concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural Street.

The concert, entitled “Bach & Handel Masterworks,” features Dettingem Te Deum and Zadok the Priest by Handel as well as Cantatas No. 51 & 158 by J.S. Bach. Guest artists for the Bach cantatas are Maura Janton Cock, soprano, and David Berger, bass. The guest conductor is Eric Johnson, director of Choral Activities at Northern Illinois University.

Also making a concert appearance will be “Mr. Bach,” portrayed by actor R.J. Lindsey, who will be in the Rockford area for classroom presentations at seven elementary schools. Students whose classes Mr. Bach has visited will be given free tickets to the Bach Chamber Choir’s May 11th concert.

“Bach & Handel Masterworks” is the final concert of the 19th season for the Bach Chamber Choir, Rockford’s premier vocal ensemble. Tickets, at $15, may be reserved by calling the Ticket Hotline at 633-9089.
