Back to School Parade on Aug. 21

The third annual Back to School Parade will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, starting at the corner of West State and Johnston, going south to School Street, on to Pierpont and ending at Auburn High School. Supplies will be distributed in the Auburn High School parking lot. Theme is “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.”

There are a number of contributors of various school supplies, but more supplies are always needed. This is the first step in an attempt to truly leave no child behind.

Donations of school supplies and money are requested to help with the cost of the event. The donations may be delivered to City Hall to the attention of Ald. Linda McNeely, or to her ward office at 2419 W. State St. Cash contributions should be made payable to “Back to School Parade.”

Organizations interested in marching in the parade should contact LaVonne Williams at 962-3288 or fax a request to 987-0303.
