Basil Cafe, the newest addition to restaurant choices on East Riverside Boulevard, will hold a grand opening fundraiser on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 7 and 8. All proceeds from these two nights will be donated to RocVale Children’s Home, a division of Milestone, Inc. and to the Harlem Community Center.

“We are excited about becoming a part of this community. To show our commitment to the people here, we are giving something back to help local children,” said Basil Cafe owner, George Vavaroutsos.

RocVale Children’s Home provides residential, educational, vocational and social services to more than 60 children with developmental disabilities.

The Harlem Community Center provides sport and recreational activities year-round for young people. They also provide an “After School Club” during the school year, an “All Day Club” when school is not in session and a “Summer Fun Club” with swimming lessons, field trips, library and computer activities and special events. The Harlem Community Center also operates “Playworks Playground” at the Forest Hills Road Sports Complex.

Basil Cafe, located in the Crown Plaza strip center, 6500 E. Riverside Blvd., specializes in Italian/Mediterranean cuisine. For this fundraiser, they will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 7 and 8. Reservations are strongly suggested. Call (815) 637-9590.
