The League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford will bring Mike Tidwell, author of Bayou Farewell, to Rockford as the keynote speaker for its Community Fund-Raising Dinner.

The dinner will be at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, March 2 at Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Country Club.

Tidwell suggests that “We All Live In New Orleans Now.” He predicted a Katrina-like hurricane in 2003, and now predicts that the U.S. is turning every coastal city in America into another New Orleans due to global warming.

More intense hurricanes and rising sea levels will make Katrina-like events commonplace in the coming decades. But there is a way out of this mess: clean energy and preserving natural land. Tidwell has been interviewed by CNN, PBS, NPR and other major broadcasts as a result of his prediction.

Cost to attend the March 2 event is $50, and copies of his book Bayou Farewell will be available for purchase.
