Legendary blues man B.B. King will return to the Coronado Theatre in the downtown River District to perform live in concert on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. Special guest Magic Slim & the Teardrops will also be performing.

Tickets for B.B. King will go on sale at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10. Ticket prices are $49.50, $44.50 and $34.50 (additional charges and fees may apply) and are available at CentreEvents.com or charge by phone at 968-5222. A limited number of VIP seats are also available.

“King’s last two performances in Rockford were quick to sell out,” said Tonya Lamia, marketing director for Centre Events. “Centre Events is pleased to partner with Nitelite Promotions to bring this legendary blues performer back to the Coronado Theatre.”

B.B. King, who will turn 79 on Sept. 16, has reigned as “King of the Blues” for more than half a century. Releasing more than 50 albums since the 1940s and averaging 275 concerts a year, he has become the most internationally-renowned blues musician. He was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, also receiving the NARAS’ Lifetime Achievement Grammy in the same year. His unmatched guitar style and musical genius has influenced peers and musicians across generations and genres. Classics such as “The Cost to be the Boss,” “The Thrill is Gone,” “How Blue Can You Get,” “Everyday I Have the Blues,” and “Why I Sing the Blues” have become concert staples.

Special guest and Chicago blues legend Magic Slim & the Teardrops will open the show. Considered by many as the “last real Chicago Blues band,” they have been essential to the blues scene since their formation in the mid-1960s to national and international acclaim.
