BCT stages 'The Wiz'

Byron Civic Theatre kicks off its 11th season with The Wiz—a modern rock music rendition of L. Frank Baum’s stories of The Wizard of Oz.

The BCT summer production is under way, and rehearsals are in full swing. The show will be a mixture of rock, gospel and soul.

The Wiz is a high-energy show that will have audiences singing and dancing in their seats. Show times and dates are 8 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Aug. 5-6; 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7; 8 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Aug. 12-13; and 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14. Tickets go on sale Thursday, July 21 for members and Monday, July 25 for the general public. Prices are $9 adults, $7 seniors and $5 students.
