Beloit Regional Hospice seeks caring volunteers

Beloit Regional Hospice is seeking caring and committed individuals to volunteer. Tuesday, Aug. 21, Beloit Regional Hospice will begin a nine-week training program for prospective volunteers. The training classes will meet once a week from 6 to 8 p.m. Hospice volunteers may serve in a variety of capacities; one of the main needs is to be able to provide comfort and support to patients.

The training program offers end-of-life education and includes topics such as communication and family dynamics; active listening and spirituality; pain and symptom management: and dying, death and the grieving process. All classes are held at the Beloit Regional Hospice offices is at 655 Third St., Suite 200, Beloit Wis. Beloit Regional Hospice provides care for terminally-ill patients and support for their families. The organization’s mission is, “To help make each moment of remaining life as full and as comfortable as possible.” The hospice team is committed to helping patients choose the end-of-life care they want and need. The team includes nurses, certified nursing assistants, physicians, social workers, bereavement counselors and volunteers, as well as administrative and clerical staff.
