BELOIT, Wis.If you suffer from insomnia, fight your pillow, wonder whats wrong with your mattress, or feel as though you havent slept after eight hours, a free workshop may help you out.
Thorpe Chiropractic Works and Beloit Mattress Company, both in Beloit, Wis., will partner to present free sleep workshops to the public. The next workshop is Tuesday, April 3.
The workshop partnership evolved because so many people asked Dr. Karen Thorpe to recommend a mattress or a pillow so they could get a good nights sleep.
It often is a poor mattress or pillow causing some of the discomfort, said Dr. Thorpe. It can be as simple as finding a solution like that. However, not all problems with sleep are about the bedding. People must learn what sleep positions affect them, and why simple changes can have dramatic differences. But everyone is different. Theres no one-size-fits-all.
We, too, believe no two people are alike when it comes to a mattress, said Ryan Poppie, an owner of Beloit Mattress Company. We specialize in custom mattresses so every mattress is made to order. That way, we can respond to special needs, including therapeutic mattresses and electronic beds.
Although the two businesses are joining forces to help people make better decisions, this is not a sales event.
This is strictly an informational workshop, said Frank Thorpe, Patient Education and Business manager for Thorpe Chiropractic Works. We want people to be better educated about sleep and bedding, but the decision to take action is up to them.
The next free workshop is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, at Thorpe Chiropractic Works, 2950 Prairie Ave., Beloit, Wis. Space is limited, so call for a reservation.
