Journey of the Heart, the third annual benefit banquet for The Haven Network, will be Thursday, Sept. 14, at Giovannis, 610 N. Bell School Rd. The Haven celebrates two years of service with the theme, His Enduring Promise.
Guest speaker is Nigel M. de S. Cameron, Ph.D., dean of the Wilberforce Forum. Internationally known for his work in theology, ethics and medicine, Dr. Cameron has appeared on CNN, ABC, Nightline and Frontline as well as other media. Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr. Cameron is a naturalized citizen as well as former provost and distinguished professor at Trinity International University and School of Theology in Deerfield, Ill. He is the founder of several international bio-ethics centers.
The Most Rev. Bishop Thomas G. Doran will give the invocation, and Rev. David Thies, pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church, will give the closing. Jon Krause, president of Gambino Realtors, is master of ceremonies. Music will be provided by The Bruce Erickson Ensemble.
The Haven Network is a perinatal hospice outreach of families experiencing the death of their terminally ill pre-born or newly-born baby. As part of the banquet, there will be a brief candlelight ceremony for families and friends to memorialize the life of a special baby who has died, which is open to all who wish to participate.
