Bike safety rally June 7

Rockford Health Plans will host a bicycle safety rally at its facility, 3401 Perryville Rd., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 7.

The safety rally is designed to teach bicycle safety to children and their parents in a fun and inviting setting as well as raise awareness about bicycle-related injuries and the importance of wearing a bicycle helmet.

“As a member of the Rockford community for over 20 years, Rockford Health Plans has always been committed to raising awareness about bicycle-related injuries and promoting the use of bicycle helmets to our members,” said Matthew Daughenbaugh, Rockford Health Plans spokesperson. “This year we are pleased to take that commitment to a wider audience by sponsoring this bicycle safety rally.”

Rally participants will be able to take part in a host of activities including bicycle safety checks, road course instructions by Rockford police officers and helmet safety instructions. The Rockford Health System REACT helicopter and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile are also scheduled to be on site. Upon completing the event, participants can register to win a new bicycle.

The safety rally is free and open to the general public. Information: contact Rockford Health Plans at 971-1000.
