Beloit, Wis.Rolling green hills of Glen Erin Golf Course, heralding trumpets, and the soothing sounds of a string quartet are just some of the things golfers can expect at the Second Annual Golf Play Day hosted by the Friends of the Symphony and the Beloit Janesville Symphony Board of Directors on Tuesday, June 15. The day includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, practice range, lunch, an hors doeuvres reception, and prizes. Participants will also have an opportunity to win a $15,000 Hole-in-One prize sponsored by Johnson Bank.
The Friends of the Symphony provide support to the operations of the Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra by sponsoring fund-raisers, providing ushers at concerts, and assisting with concert productions. During the past year, they raised more then $20,000 to support the operations of the orchestra. According to Executive Director Nancy Sonntag: The friends are a vital part of our organization. They provide thousands of hours of volunteer time to support our efforts.
According to Jeff Johnson, chairman of the event, the goal of the fund-raiser is to double funds raised in last years inaugural play day. Glen Erin is the perfect place to hold this event, said Johnson. It is located between Beloit and Janesville, it is a beautiful setting and offers a challenging course.
The cost for participation is $100. The registration deadline is Friday, June 4. Brochures are available at Glen Erin Golf Club, 1417 W. Airport Rd., Janesville; and at Visit Beloit, 1003 Pleasant St. in Beloit; and at the Janesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, 51 S. Jackson St., Janesville.
