Black History Month: Profile: Willy T. Ribbs

Willy T. Ribbs (1956- ) is largely considered the Jackie Robinson of motorsports. In 1990, he became the first African-American to compete full-time in the CART series. Then, in 1991, he became the first African-American to qualify for the Indianapolis 500. Most recently, Ribbs joined the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2001, making him the first African-American to compete full-time in a major NASCAR division.
