Just in time for Fathers Day, the 15th Annual Blackhawk Vintage Classic returns to Blackhawk Farms Raceway this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17). The track is at 15538 Prairie Road in South Beloit. The Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association is sanctioning this event.
Some of the models expected to be on display and racing include Alfa Romeo, Austin Healey, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, Jaguar, Loti, MG, Maserati, Porsche and Triump.
The racing will be organized into eight groups: Pre-war/Early Vintage, Vintage Production Based Cars, Sports/Racing Cars, Monoposto Cars through 1972, FIA, WMC, and Prototypes, Historic Production GTO, Monoposto Racing Formula 70, and Historic Production GTU through 1973.
Dad wont be the only one to enjoy the many activities planned for the weekend. The whole family can watch the wheel-to-wheel racing on the 1.95-mile road course or stroll through the grounds looking at vintage sports cars and vintage airplanes. The Kroozers of Northern Illinois will have a special display set up. A fly-in is planned for early Saturday morning.
The track is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Admission is $10 for people 13 and older; children 12 and younger are admitted free.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Tebala Shrines Childrens Transportation Fund. The fund helps underwrite the cost of transporting children from the Rock River Valley for treatment at Shriners Hospitals for Children.
