Blood marrow drive set for Jan. 20

The Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVBC) and WXRX, 104.9 FM, are joining forces once again to host the Fifth Annual Rock-n-Roll Up Your Sleeve Blood Drive. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Rock River Block at the corner of State and Alpine.

The Fifth Annual Rock-n-Roll Up Your Sleeve’ Blood Drive hopes to collect a minimum of 150 pints the day of the event. The event will feature WXRX broadcasting live from Rock River Ford, food, prizes and giveaways. Representatives from RRVBC, National Marrow Donor Program, Illinois Eye Bank, SOS Life Goes On, Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network and the African-American Task Force on Donation will be present to provide information about donating the Five Points of Life: blood, marrow, organs, tissue and cornea.

Radio Works, WXRX’s parent company, and the RRVBC have established this annual event in hopes of generating new donors and increasing public awareness of the necessity of all types of donations.

RRVBC is the sole supplier of blood and related services to OSF Saint Anthony, Rockford Memorial, SwedishAmerican, Beloit Memorial, Edgerton Memorial Community, Freeport Health Network, Harvard Memorial, and Northwest Suburban Community and Rochelle Community hospitals.
