The 2004 Blow the Whistle on Asthma walk, is scheduled for 10 a.m., Sunday, June 6. The three-mile walk will take place at Midway Village and Museum Center in Rockford. This date officially marks the 100th anniversary of the American Lung Association. To honor this special occasion, birthday cake, along with free pulmonary function testing, will be available at the walk site.
Proceeds from the Asthma Walks will be used to support the American Lung Associations current educational programs: Camp Superkids and Asthma 101 and will provide additional funding for the American Lung Associations Asthma Clinic Research Centers, a network of 19 medical centers across the country, including one in Illinois, dedicated to finding better treatments, determining the cause of asthma, and finding a cure for this increasingly deadly disease.
